The Romahome R10 Solo wins the
Multi-purpose Motorcaravan Runner-up Award for 2009
The Romahome R10 Solo has been presented with the
Multi-purpose Motorcaravan Runner-up Award by Which Motorcaravan, the UK’s
number one magazine for motorhome testing, at the 2009 Awards.
The Which Motorcaravan Awards are now in their 4th year, and have become an
important part of the annual motorcaravan calendar.
Judging the multi-purpose category is a multi-task job. The vehicle has to
not only be the best small camper, but also the vehicle that makes for the
best everyday car. We expect all the driver gadgets that
make the on-road experience a pleasure and it has to be great for camping –
it’s quite an ask. There is a surprising amount of choice on the market,
which made this year a close run match.
The Romahome R10 Solo measures only 3.86m long and is less than two metres
high, but despite its size it can carry three people on the road. It is
supremely economical with a 1.4HDi engine and remarkably
it works as a micro-camper, if only for one person.
The inside is
surprisingly comfortable, if cosy. With a multi-purpose rear seat which lays
flat to make a single bed, a kitchen with a two-burner hob and stainless
steel sink, sockets and storage, you have everything you need in this
compact vehicle.
The Romahome is cleverly designed and has great
build-quality, with a price that is within many people’s
reach in these money conscious times.
Note to editors:
The Romahome R10 Solo uses the microscopic Citroen Nemo as its base. It is
available from dealers across the UK.

Romahome is the top UK motor home manufacturer
Romahome has been named as the Manufacturer of the Year by MMM, the UK's No1 motorhome magazine, at their prestigious 2009 Awards.
The MMM awards, in association with the Caravan Club, are now in their fifth year, recognising the best of the motorhome industry at an annual ceremony held at the Dorchester Hotel in the heart of London's Mayfair. Each motorhome and service considered by the judges has to be nominated by a reader before making it onto the shortlist.
Manufacturers face a tough challenge in trying to create individual motorhomes to cater to the needs of widely differing markets. Any manufacturer who manages to be creative whilst retaining good quality control and a high level of customer satisfaction merits high praise, so the winner this year should be very proud of their achievements.
Mike Jago, Editor of MMM, said: "Balancing innovation with knowledge of customer requirements, allows this company to bring a clever and focused product to the marketplace."
This year, the company has re-branded to provide clearer model ranges. The classic rising roof and overcab models are now branded R20, while R30 is the GRP capped van conversion.
Since the launch of the monocoque R40 coachbuilt last year, Romahome has not rested on its laurels, but has-further developed R40 and launched the cheeky little the R10 campervan at October's NEC show. It impressed us so much, we had to recognise it in this year's rising roof category.
This relatively small company is forging ahead and moving with the times and doing a great job in this increasingly tough economic market.

Romahome R10 Solo wins MMM Rising Roof of the Year Bronze Award
The Romahome R10 Solo has been named as the Bronze Award winner of Rising Roof of the Year by MMM, the UK's No. 1 motorhome magazine, at their prestigious 2009 Awards.
This category proves that compact doesn't have to mean too much compromise. With more manufacturers entering the market, there is now a greater choice of both base vehicle and price.
This compact little camper for one, was only launched in October 2008, but made a great impression on the MMM team. And it even managed to get mentioned on BBC TV's Top Gear programme. The forward-facing travel seat in the rear accommodates a second passenger and makes into this 'vans only bed - a comfy single. The small side kitchen offers a sink and a two-burner hob. If you need to accommodate more people, there is an optional awning for the rear. Superb fuel economy is a feature of this smallest of winners.
